The goal of the Stance Controlled Video (SCV) website is to enable users to play, pause, or skip videos without physically interacting with their touch screens or TV remotes. At its core, the SCV site will detect user presence: if the webcam detects you watching, the video will play; if you leave the frame, it will pause until you return. My current focus is on developing this Play/Pause functionality.
In the future, if the concept advances, the pose detection software could be enhanced to detect if a user has fallen asleep and pause or turn off the screen. Additionally, it could recognize specific hand gestures to skip forwards, backwards, or to the next video, requiring more advanced recognition software. This would be a project for a later date.
